Your NEFL FTC League offers several types of events throughout the season. These events are designed to support teams in accomplishing their individualized goals as we progress through the season together. Below is a brief description of all event types. Kick Off
FIRST Tech Challenge releases the new game (including Game Animation and Game Manual 2) at noon one Saturday in September every year. As a League, we come together to celebrate the start of a new season and watch the live release together. This event is a low key event where we collectively meet new teams in the league and greet our friends from the past year. We watch the Live Release together, we hear League updates together, we eat pizza together, and we begin to list our first thoughts/ideas/inspirations together.
Scrimmage
Our Annual Scrimmage continues to adapt as our league adapts. The concept is that teams arrive with a functioning "first attempt" at a robot that meets the specific game requirements for the year. Unscored matches are played, giving teams a better understanding of all the rules, obstacles, and strategies needed for the season.
However, since we are still a a new league... and still rapidly growing, we use the scrimmage as more of a "build day". Teams come together with all of their supplies... and ideas. Some teams have actual robots built, some do not. Competition Fields are set up, and plenty of support volunteers are in place to aid each team. Teams work together. Some are building, some are perfecting... It's a fun day for all! We have mechanical assistance, programming assistance, referee/rule understanding assistance... and of course music and lots of excitement.

Workshop
2016/2017 We hosted our first Workshop, and we hope to make it a tradition! The workshop is a build day including guest speakers and break out sessions on judging, video, presentations, programming, and design. This year we even had Modern Robotics Inc Join us!
Match Plays
Match Plays are officially scored events. Teams arrive, pass field and robot inspections, and participate in Alliance Rounds to earn Quality and Ranking Points. Engineering Notebooks are not officially judged. These are generally shorter days and are often held on a school day. Match Plays are completely optional and teams may attend as many as they like.
Meets
Meets are officially score events. Teams arrive, pass field and robot inspections, and participate in Alliance Rounds to earn Quality and Ranking Points. Elimination Rounds are also played. Meets differ from Match Plays because ENGINEERING NOTEBOOKS ARE SCORED! Awards are also given at Meets. Teams must attend at least one Meet to attend our League Championship. These are long days! Plan accordingly.
Judgement Day and League Championship
This is a collective two day event.
Day 1 is Judgement Day. Teams are assigned times to arrive for field and robot inspections, as well as their judging/presentation session. This usually takes around two hours. Teams are welcome to come, set up their pit area, and work on their robot all day. However, limited assistance will be available. Robots must be ready for inspection prior to the team's assigned inspection time. Modifications will require an additional inspection the next morning.
Day 2 is Match Play Competitions. Alliance Rounds and Elimination Rounds are played. Awards Ceremony will be at the end.
